OUR STORY

History

Camp Siloam was started in 1923 by the Arkansas Baptist State Convention under the name Arkansas Baptist Assembly. The camp was run by the Arkansas Baptist State Convention up until 2006 when it was given its own non-profit status. Arkansas Baptist Assembly was known throughout the state simply as “Siloam,” so in 2011, the camp changed its name to Camp Siloam. Today the camp still benefits from support from the Cooperative Program of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and continues to serve churches by providing an affordable camping opportunity for teens and children.

Since 1923, thousands of people have heard the Gospel of Jesus and have been saved. Many have been called to global missions or full-time ministry at Camp Siloam. Campers refer to the camp simply as, “Siloam” which is a Hebrew word meaning sent. The idea of sending permeates much of what we do at Siloam. We believe God is sending people to be a part of camp.

Who We Are

Camp Siloam is a non-profit Christian camp and retreat center in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. For 100 years, God’s name has been honored here and people have been encountering the Father on these holy grounds. In the summertime, the camp hosts multiple weeks of summer camp during which gifted evangelists share the Gospel of Jesus with thousands of campers. During the fall, winter and spring, the camp staff hosts youth retreats and rents the camp to groups for retreats.

What We Do

Camp Siloam serves churches by offering an affordable summer camp option for youth and children. Many churches use the camp as a way to reach out to youth and build a relationship with them. Camp Siloam completely programs camp so that a youth pastor or volunteer leader can focus on his or her youth. The staff is intentional about creating an environment for spiritual growth, and everything they do points to the scriptural theme for the summer. Worship, group time discussions, and recreation are all designed to help youth and children grow as individuals and grow closer together. Our scriptural themes are illustrated with a custom written 5-part drama, quiet times, and group discussion questions. Camp recreation is original and theme-based with a good mix of programmed time and free time. Our programming is separate for elementary school and Jr/Sr. High campers. We offer Children Camps for campers who have completed 3rd-6th grade and Student Camps for campers who have completed 6th-12th grade.

In the off-season, Camp Siloam functions as a retreat or conference center. We can help you plan affordable retreats or conferences. Camp Siloam serves churches from Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee and Kansas. We will host retreats and rent the camp to other Christian denominations. Denominations which have used the camp include Methodist, Lutheran, Church of Christ, Presbyterian, Evangelical, Fellowship Bible, Seventh Day Adventist, Episcopal, Assembly of God, and Pentecostal.

Our Standards

Siloam directors have a high standard of excellence in how facilities look and how camp runs. We invest all that we can to ensure the focus of the campers is not on the staff, facilities or food, but on Jesus. Staff members are college students who are youth ministry minded. They are trained to engage campers and to treat them as honored guests at camp.

Camp Siloam wants its campers to be safe while they are at camp. Camp Siloam facilities, food, staff and grounds are under the scrutiny of its executive director and the camp board of directors all summer long. Everyone on staff is hand selected by the executive director and double checked with references and criminal background checks. There is a registered nurse or EMT on staff each week of summer camp.
